One honest thing we don't do: dynamic codes. If you need to change where a printed code points later, or track how many times each code was scanned and from where, that's a dynamic code — it requires a paid hosted service running continuously, which a purely local, zero-server free tool like ours fundamentally can't provide. For dynamic codes, use Scanova (which specializes in it). But if you just want a good-looking, scannable, never-expiring static code — which is most people — the tool above is free and enough.

Will my QR code expire? Do I have to pay?
No expiry, free forever. QR Cat makes static codes — your URL or text is encoded into the image itself, with no server redirect in between. Even if this site goes away, the codes you've printed keep scanning. That's the core difference from the 'free trial, then disabled, then pay-to-restore' sites.
Is my content (URL, WiFi password, contact info) uploaded or logged?
No. The code is computed entirely in your browser with JavaScript; nothing is sent to a server and we don't track scans. For sensitive data like WiFi passwords and personal contacts, local generation is the safe way.
PNG or SVG — which should I pick?
For the web, chat and social, use PNG (a ready-to-use bitmap). For posters, business cards, banners and packaging, use SVG (vector, sharp at any size). For anything large-format, always SVG.
Will it still scan with a logo on it?
A logo covers data, and higher error correction cannot guarantee that the result will decode. Keep the logo small, avoid functional patterns and preserve the quiet zone. Check the downloaded file, then scan a sample on the devices and materials you will use.
Can I use any colors?
Use dark modules on a light background. Gradients and inverted colors may affect decoding; inspect the downloaded file and scan a sample on your intended devices rather than relying on the preview alone.
Is QR Cat a free QR Tiger alternative?
QR Cat is an option for free static codes without an account, watermark or QR Cat scan quota. Other providers also offer free static features; check their current terms for dynamic codes and analytics. QR Cat does not host editable redirects.
Will a free QR code with a logo have a watermark or require login?
